Caspian Wolves Win Basketball Tournament

In late May 2016, the regional stage of the 3 on 3 Students National Basketball Tournament took place at Astrakhan State University; our male team, whose name is Caspian Wolves, has taken the 1st place.

The event was arranged jointly with the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, the Association of Student Basketball, and the Astrakhan Basketball League. Its main goal is to develop and promote 3 on 3 basketball in Astrakhan Region, as well as to enhance the local sports potential. Mr. Alexey Ryazantsev, Chairman of the City College of Basketball Referees, was the main referee at the Contest held at ASU.

Male teams of a number of Astrakhan’s educational institutions took part in the event: Astrakhan State University, Astrakhan State Technical University, the Astrakhan State University of Architecture & Civil Engineering, the Astrakhan State College of Professional Technologies, the Astrakhan State Polytechnic College, and the Astrakhan College of Computing Technology.

The Caspian Wolves of Astrakhan State University won the Contest and got the 1st place.

As for female teams, their range included Rainbow’s Girls, Studenchosi, Grasshopes, and KIWI. The 1st place was gained by the Rainbow’s Girls (a united team of Astrakhan State University, Astrakhan State Medical University, and Astrakhan State Technical University); the 2nd place – by the Grasshopes of Astrakhan State University; the 3rd place – by the Studenchosi (a united team of Astrakhan State University and Astrakhan State Technical University).

All the prizewinners were awarded with cups, diplomas, and medals.

Let us congratulate our Caspian Wolves, who will represent the city of Astrakhan and our University at federal competitions in 3 on 3 basketball!
