Professor of Geography from ASU Returns from Training in Germany
The Chair of Geography, Cartography, and GIS Technologies of Astrakhan State University congratulates Dr. Dmitry Shabanov on his successful completion of a three-month practical training program at the Center for Remote Sensing of Land Surfaces of the University of Bonn in Germany.
Dr. Shabanov's training was arranged thanks to the Mikhail Lomonosov Program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which operates to sustain and develop cooperation in research and education.
Dr. Shabanov analyzed regularities in desertification and degradation of lands in the north of the Caspian Littoral Region by applying methods of Earth remote probing over 2001-2016. Besides, he analyzed the dynamics of changes in the zone of steppe ilmen lakes over 1977-2015.
Besides, Dr. Shabanov took part in the seminar of the project "Earth Observation Based Information Products for Drought Risk Reduction at the National Level (EvIDENz)" together with his colleagues from Germany, Ukraine, and South Africa.
The obtained findings will help our faculty enhance teaching such disciplines as Decoding of Airspace Photographs, Stock of Space Photographs to Create Maps, Application of Space Photography Data in Cartography, etc.
It was useful experience for our researcher to meet his colleagues from other countries at the seminar, where representatives of the German and Russian scientific communities discussed topical issues of cooperation in science and education.
Let us wish our colleague professional success in the future.
