ASU Takes Part in Translation Forum Russia 2021

The largest conference in Russia’s translation and localization industry has been held in Nizhny Novgorod. A delegation from Astrakhan State University, which included Director of the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation Uliana Saveleva, Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages ??Nadezhda Emelianova and Professor of the Department of English Philology Olga Egorova, took part in the event.

In Nizhny Novgorod, the ASU representatives shared the experience of our students preparing an MA final graduation work in the form of a project, with their colleagues. The development of the concept of an MA final graduation work in the form of a project was supported by the Vladimir Potanin Foundation within the framework of the grant for Master’s degree teachers. Supported by Rospatent and the World Intellectual Property Organization, MA students of the Faculty of Foreign Languages and the Caspian Higher School of Interpreting and Translation completed two MA projects — on the translation of the terms of the International Classification of Goods and Services and on the replenishment of the WIPO terminology base.

Today, writing and defending a thesis as a final graduation work is a rather relevant issue and is widely discussed in the pedagogical and T & I communities. The participants of the meeting showed interest in the idea of the professors of Astrakhan State University which allows to combine the theory of translation with implementation of a valuable practical part in accordance with the requirements of a particular customer.
