Another meeting on the topic "Information “hygiene” in social networks: how not to become a victim of other people's provocations" was held within the framework of the discussion platform "Open Dialogue". Marta Kutyina, Deputy Head of the Regional Management Centre of the Astrakhan Region, addressed the students of the V. N. Tatishchev Astrakhan State University.

Astrakhan State University students were told about fakes in mass media
The students learnt about the categories and mechanics of creating fakes, risk factors that people face every day on the web, as well as the use of artificial intelligence as a tool of disinformation.

First of all, the speaker drew the students' attention to the emotional features of perception of fake records and photos. According to her, their main function is to instil fear, anxiety and aggression, which in the future can lead to an increase in the number of means to manipulate consciousness.

Marta Kutyina also advised to pay attention to loud headlines of news and records in information groups of social networks.

"Such headlines are made in order to spread the fake faster and interest you. Try to double-check and compare information from different sources, and better from official ones,' stressed the deputy head of the Astrakhan Region Management Centre.

In addition to fakes, Marta Kutyina together with the students discussed risk factors both for the state and for any citizen, namely:

  1. Destabilisation of the socio-political situation (rallies, protests, etc.).
  2. Formation of a negative image of a person or organisation.
  3. Change of moral attitudes.
  4. Increase of anxiety.

The students were most interested in the use of artificial intelligence technologies to create fakes.
