Konstantin Markelov Discusses Prospects for Working in New Conditions with His Colleagues

Today, the rector of Astrakhan State University has taken part in a meeting of heads of Russian universities with Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov.

The Ministry of Science of Higher Education of Russia hosted a discussion of the issues of universities’ work in the new conditions — arrangement of the educational process in the post-pandemic period, assistance to Russian students studying abroad, international activities of universities, and raising of the level of educational work.

Valery Falkov oriented the university community towards the organization of offline education and active involvement of students in research activities. The Minister also recalled the importance of psychological assistance to students and teachers. In this case, special attention should be paid to foreign students. In particular, an informal attitude and attention to the issue of providing assistance to students from Ukraine is important.

Another significant outcome of the meeting at the Ministry of Science of Higher Education of Russia was the introduction of a moratorium on the indicators showing the number of publications indexed in international databases. This does not mean a ban on publishing articles in Web of Science and Scopus, but authors should first of all proceed from national interests.

According to the rector of ASU, the agenda of the meeting turned out to be extremely relevant and informative.
