LNR Universities Are Interested in Cooperation with Astrakhan State University

Being a member of the delegation headed by Deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Viktor Vodolatsky, ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov has held a number of meetings with the leadership and representatives of education of the Luhansk People’s Republic and spoke about the agreements reached.

During the extended meeting of the Council of Rectors of the LNR — the first one after the republic acquired the new status — colleagues discussed the most pressing issues of cooperation in the field of higher education — the transition to Russian standards of education and the training of specialists in profiles and new majors necessary to meet the current needs of the LPR. The meeting also involved the minister of education and science.

As for the training of teaching staff, representatives of the LNR expressed their interest primarily in specialists in Russian and foreign languages, Russian and world history, engineers, IT specialists, including those capable of servicing high-tech medical equipment.

The conversation about the patriotic education of children and youth continued during a visit to the Lugansk Cossack Cadet Corps, where Aleksey Khayurov, Director of the Astrakhan Cossack Cadet Corps named after Ataman I.A. Biryukov, shared his experience in implementing the Cossack component in education with LNR colleagues. Ideas for joint projects also arose there.

The first day of the visit to the Lugansk People’s Republic ended at the highest level: Head of the delegation Viktor Vodolatsky and ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov met with Chair of the LNR government Sergey Kozlov and with Head of the republic Leonid Pasechnik.
