First Cross-Cultural Tourist-Ethno-Gastronomic Expedition Opens under the Auspices of ASU

The implementation of the initiative became possible thanks to the victory of Anastasia Khadzhaeva, a student of the Faculty of Pedagogical Education, Art, Service and Culture, in the all-Russia competition of youth projects among institutions of higher professional education of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.

The project, organized by Astrakhan Tatishchev State University, is aimed at developing positive multicultural relations between the peoples of Russia through acquaintance with the peculiarities of ethnic cuisines and hospitality traditions in order to form a comprehensive idea of ​​Russian regions and fulfil the unifying potential of cross-cultural specificity.

Young people from different parts of the country, who won the open essay contest Delicious & Healthy Expedition, went on an exciting journey, which is taking place on August 8-14.

The guests of the event were greeted by ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov, Vice-Rector for Discipline and Youth Policy Farida Rekesheva, Dean of the Faculty of Pedagogical Education, Art, Service and Culture Galina Palatkina, and Head of the Agency for Youth Affairs of Astrakhan Region Viktor Nurtazin.

The expedition programme includes a number of culinary master classes, given by famous chefs of the region and aimed at cultivating love for one’s country through the prism of the traditions of ethnic alimentary culture.
