The 7th Russian-Azerbaijani Interregional Forum has recently taken place in Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan. Dr. Andrey Syzranov, Chief of the Center of Eurasian Political Research of Astrakhan State University, has taken part in it.
The event was arranged by the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and by the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation.
Several roundtables were organized as a part of the event agenda: “Industry: Prospects of Bilateral Cooperation”; “Development of Cooperation in Tourism: Issues & Prospects”; “Main Fields of Cooperation Development in Agriculture”; “Development of Bilateral Cooperation in Humanitarian Sphere”.
Dr. Syzranov gave his report “Interaction between Russia & Azerbaijan in the Sphere of Educational Projects: Issues & Development Prospects”. He had prepared it jointly with Mr. Alexander Karavaev, Key Expert of the North – South Center of Political Studies. In Particular, Dr. Syzranov remarked that the history of Russian-Azerbaijani relations in the field of education dates back to almost 150 years ago. “Interaction between universities of Russia and Azerbaijan is not just a development factor of our educational systems and research activities; it’s also a phenomenon that forms the foundation of long-term cooperation in the cultural, economic, and humanitarian spheres. It’s a good example of how tools of soft power may efficiently be applied to get a mutual benefit. While interacting with other post-Soviet countries, we should definitely take this experience into account”, he pointed out.
