ASU Agriculturists Talk to Their Colleagues on the Russian Field Day
On August 6-7, the Astrakhan Experiment Station — a branch of the N. I. Vavilov All-Russian Institute of Plant Genetic Resources (VIR) — hosted the comprehensive event on the usage of the world genetic pool of VIR plant resources for successful development of the Astrakhan agro-industrial complex.
The Field Day celebration in Astrakhan region was attended by representatives of VIR branches in Adler, Volgograd, Krasnodar, Maykop, Murmansk, Tambov, the Republics of Crimea and Dagestan, as well as experts of the Ministry of Agriculture of Astrakhan region, Astrakhan State University, Caspian Agricultural Federal Scientific Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Russian Agricultural Centre in Astrakhan region, State Commission of the Russian Federation for Selection Achievements Test and Protection in Astrakhan region, representatives of Astrakhan agricultural firms, managers and specialists of agricultural departments of the regional districts.
The event participants visited the scientific substations of the Astrakhan Experiment Station and participated in a round table discussion which included presentations by the directors of the branches, summing up of the event results with the representatives of the agro-industrial complex and the Ministry of Agriculture of Astrakhan region, communication with educational and scientific institutions on some issues of HR training, organization of traineeships and joint research.
