ASU Foreign Students Explain Why They Decided to Study Russian

Today, Astrakhan State University has held discussion platform “Promotion of the Russian Language and Russian-Language Media Abroad”, involving the representatives of Rossotrudnichestvo.

Dean of the ASU Faculty of Philology & Journalism Lyudmila Kasyanova, Head of the Department of Theory & History of Journalism Galina Belolipskaya and Head of the Preliminary Training Unit for Foreign Citizens Natalia Sannikova told the audience about the projects on promotion of the Russian language, implemented by the university, and about the strategies of preparing foreign students for their studies in Russian and future professional activities.

During the general discussion, Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo delegation — Head of the Agency Yevgeny Primakov asked the foreign students of ASU about their reasons for learning Russian.

The international students of ASU also asked the guests from Rossotrudnichestvo a number of pressing questions, concerning, in particular, the procedure of educational certificates legalization and the paperflow between countries in the pandemic period. The students were worried that, due to a number of restrictions, they would have problems with continuing their education in Russia. Yevgeny Primakov assured them that the agency is working actively on resolving these problems.
