Ilgar Velizade Tells ASU Students about Caspian Geopolitics
Students and professors of the Law Faculty of Astrakhan State University attended an open online lecture by the Azerbaijani political scientist, publicist and head of the South Caucasus Political Scientists Club.
The well-known expert in the Caspian region has planned two webinars for students of Russian universities. This week, a conversation took place on topic “Geopolitics of Caspian Region”. The international educational meeting was organized by the Association of State Universities and Research Centres of the Caspian States and the Centre for International Studies “Caspian Region — Eurasia” under the media support of the Jeyran Media press club.
During his speech, political scientist Ilgar Velizade told the Russian students about the history and current geopolitical state of the Caspian region. In particular, they talked about the status of the Caspian Sea, its division following the signing of the Caspian Convention (including the distribution of hydrocarbon deposits between the countries of the Caspian Five). The expert also touched upon the issues of regional security and militarization. The final block of the lecture was dedicated to the unique eco-environment of the Caspian region.
Ilgar Velizade’s next lecture for students of Russian universities will be dedicated to the geoeconomics of the Caspian region and will also be held online.
