Konstantin Markelov Participates in Strategic Session of RF Ministry of Science and Higher Education on Creating a Network of University Campuses

The meeting is chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov. Astrakhan Region is represented by the ASU rector and by Deputy Chair of the Astrakhan Government Dmitry Ovchinnikov.

Dmitry Chernyshenko reminded the audience about the instruction of President Vladimir Putin on creating a network of world-class student campuses in Russia.

According to Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov, a modern university campus should stimulate the university for its further strategic development.

Recently, ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov has presented a project on creating an interuniversity student campus in Astrakhan within the framework of the Days of Astrakhan Region in the Federation Council of the RF Federal Asembly. It is planned to conduct major scientific and educational developments on its basis, which will make the campus part of an international center that unites universities in the region for conducting advanced scientific research.

The project of the university campus, presented by the ASU rector, gained support both among the senators of the Federation Council and among the participants of international scientific forum “Caspian Region 2021: Sustainable Development Trajectories”, which ended last week in Astrakhan. Representatives of the Caspian states express solidarity with the initiative of Astrakhan State University and consider this initiative an opportunity to raise the educational level for the youth of the entire Caspian region.
