ASU Aims to Become the Flagship of Russian Education in Turkmenistan

Astrakhan State University has held an interactive lecture “Russia-Turkmenistan Diplomatic Relations: History & Modernity”, involving Turkmen and Russian students.

The event was timed to the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Russian Federation and Turkmenistan.

Rector Konstantin Markelov addressed the students of Astrakhan State University with a welcoming speech. He outlined ways to develop cooperation between countries in the field of education, as well as prospects for relations in the scientific and cultural fields.

In her video message, Acting Representative of Rossotrudnichestvo in Turkmenistan Galina Gornaya emphasized the important role of Astrakhan State University in strengthening bilateral cooperation between the countries and wished the students success in their further studies.

The students could see the greatness and beauty of Turkmenistan during the broadcast of a video provided by the Consulate of Turkmenistan in Astrakhan.

Then the students listened to a report “Historical Milestones in the Development of Russian-Turkmen Relations” delivered by Head of the ASU Department of Foreign History and Regional Studies Vladimir Kulakov.

Tatyana Goverdovskaya, the Head of the International Law Department, spoke about the basics of establishing diplomatic relations, as well as the principles, goals and main areas of cooperation between Russia and Turkmenistan, enshrined in bilateral agreements.

The final report on the topic “Modern Interstate Relations between Russia and Turkmenistan” was made by Dean of the Faculty of Social Communications Olga Oskina.

In his turn, the teacher of the Department of Oriental Languages ​​Resul Shadzhiev presented the main outcomes and results of the work of the Center of the Turkmen language and Culture of Astrakhan State University. The functioning of this structure is the most important factor in the development of humanitarian ties between our friendly countries.
