Konstantin Markelov: ASU Student Initiative Space to Be Rebranded
During the project session on regional policy of the conference “In Tune with Universities 2022”, the rector of ASU discussed the prospects for implementing the StudentPlace project at our university with Dmitry Pokrovsky, Adviser to the Head of the Federal Agency for Youth Affairs.
The proposal to create open student spaces at universities was made last week at a meeting of the Supervisory Board of the autonomous non-profit organization Russia — Country of Opportunities and approved by Russian President Vladimir Putin. In a short time, the idea was shaped up: a StudentPlace at university is designed to become a space where students, along with co-working functionality, will have access to full information about youth initiatives being implemented in the country.
Astrakhan State University has had a space that meets the concept of StudentPlace for a few years. According to Konstantin Markelov, the space needs rebranding to fill it with new functionality.
Discussing the options for formats of the new space with his colleagues, the rector of ASU raised practical issues that are relevant for many educational organizations.
Dmitry Pokrovsky fully supported the position of the ASU rector, emphasizing that open student spaces should become more widespread over time to increase access for young people, including those who don’t study at university.
