Astrakhan State University Congratulates Veterans on Victory Day

The concert programme, timed to the 77th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, was organized by staff members and students of ASU.

Students met the guests of honor in front of the main building of Astrakhan State University, giving them paper doves as a symbol of peace.

Among the veterans there were teachers and representatives of the management of the university, for whom dance numbers to military songs were performed by the artists of the ASU Center of Creative Industries.

ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov addressed the audience with a welcoming speech:

“This year, we celebrate this great day in special conditions. We’ve probably have never waited it with such a feeling and celebrated it like now, because, as it turned out 77 years later, we again have to fight against Nazism, something that would seem to have been done away with once and for all. In no case should one relax and hope in evil disappearing on its own. Today, those who work at university and are engaged in the education of our youth are also a very important and necessary front. Thank you for your work, for what you invested when you worked here, and invest today, because many of you keep working. The most important thing is that you do not leave the university and come here, because here is the educational front line of the struggle for our youth. I wish you good health and aspirations in fulfilling your plans and tasks, because each of our deeds is a step towards the common victory of preserving the Russian statehood and universal values.”
