Astrakhan State University Gets the Name of V.N. Tatishchev

The order on renaming and amending the charter of the university has already been signed by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation.

The full name is Federal State Budgetary Educational Institution of Higher Education “Astrakhan State University named after V.N. Tatishchev” .

“Many leading universities have the names of prominent figures; this increases the recognition of the university, including on the international stage. Naming Astrakhan State University after the scientist, encyclopedist and political figure Vasily Tatishchev will certainly become a certain sign of quality for the educational organization and the services it provides, it will add status and prestige to the university,” ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov comments.
