ASU Sets a Course to Increase Cooperation With Uzbekistan
Representatives of Astrakhan Tatishchev State University have discussed ways of joint work in education and science with colleagues from the friendly country at the Platform Institute for Educational Development.
The official delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan included Advisor to the Prime Minister Mehriddin Khayriddinov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Russian Federation Botirjon Asadov, Consul General of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Rostov-on-Don Burkhon Alikulov, as well as employees of the Department for the Protection of the Rights of Citizens of Uzbekistan and the representative office of the Agency for External Labor Migration under the Ministry of Employment and Labor Relations of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Astrakhan and Volgograd regions.
During the first part of the event, the guests met with citizens of Uzbekistan that study at Astrakhan universities. Representatives of the World Youth Association of the Republic — Acting Chairman Istam Khamrayev and Chief Coordinator Shokhzodjon Ermamatov — told the audience about the activities of the association and also presented the results of its work for 2018-2021.
The second part of the working meeting focused on strengthening and expanding cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and universities of Astrakhan Region. The welcoming speech was delivered by Minister of Education and Science of the region Egor Ugarov, who emphasized the importance of continuing active and constructive cooperation in the field of education.
Vice-Rector for International Affairs of Astrakhan Tatishchev State University Angelina Fadina reported that 330 citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan study at the university. During the meeting, the ASU vice-rector also shared her unique experience of working together with universities of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the implementation of international double degree educational programmes, told about plans to expand the range of interaction with Uzbek partner universities through the organization of online learning and implementation of academic mobility programmes.
The university’s proposal for cooperation in the format of opening mirror centers for linguistic and cultural studies was of particular interest.
Following the meeting, the participants outlined ways to implement joint projects and stressed the importance and efficiency of such events for further cooperation in the field of science and education.
