ASU Participates in Acceleration Programme for University Career Centers
The programme of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum included the work of the platform “Young Specialists of the Decade: Development of Universal Competencies of Universities and Employers”. Its participants discussed the need to improve the competencies of the staff responsible for the employment of graduates.
The participants of the discussion noted that today every employer needs a graduate who will have a certain set of soft and hard skills that meet the personal requirements of the educational institution. However, the set of both professional and personal competencies of students and graduates often differs from what is expected, which requires the employer to study the issues of employment more thoroughly.
At the same time, new competencies are necessary not only for students, but above all, for professionals who work at universities of our country. The career centers of universities were the first to enter the transformation process. Today, they are a link between the system of higher education and the real economy, which puts forward certain conditions for the competencies and personal qualities of the staff of career centers. That is why the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia has launched an acceleration programme for structural divisions of universities responsible for employment issues.
The transformation programme has already involved 106 universities in the Far Eastern, Volga, Central and Siberian Federal Districts. The third round of the acceleration programme started in June 6, involving 20 universities of the Central Federal District and the Southern Federal District. The Center for Assessment, Development of Managerial Competencies and Career Planning of Astrakhan Tatishchev State University also joined the training.
