ASU to Hold “U.M.N.I.K.” Contest of Youth People’s Research Projects
In early November 2014, Astrakhan State University is holding the final selection of innovative projects within the program “U.M.N.I.K” (“Participant of Youth Research Innovation Contest”). The event is a part of the Youth Scientific Conference “Innovative Entrepreneurship”.
The Russian colloquial word “umnik” means “clever chap”, which fully justifies the name of this contest. Over 100 young researchers have taken part in its selection stage. The jury that includes management of enterprises and reps of legal authorities shall analyze all the presented innovative projects; the best ones shall be funded for two years with 400k Russian rubles.
The projects proposed by the participants of the final stage are related to medicine of the future, to development of modern materials, new devices and tools. Some projects have been done in the field of ICT and biotechnologies.
The contest has been arranged to back young researchers who strive to make a considerable innovation and to stimulate young people to take part in R & D more actively.
Training of young researchers and specialists is an integral part to introduce scientific development in Astrakhan Region.
