ASU Trains Qualified Engineers

Astrakhan State University has arranged a practical training program for staff of Astrakhan Region’s engineering and construction companies. This has been a part of the program “Rational Application of Natural Resources for Engineering, Geodesic Engineering, Geological Engineering, Hydrometeorological Engineering, and Ecological Engineering Prospecting”, which, in its turn, is a part of the target national program “Retraining of Qualified Engineers in 2015-2016”.

The Scientific & Technical Center “Amplitude” (Moscow, Russia) is a versatile institution whose activities include production, supply, and maintenance of measuring instruments, special laboratory equipment, and methodical and metrological software in the field of radiation monitoring, nuclear medicine, and Petrophysics. The trainees from Astrakhan have covered the program “Radiation Safety & Radiation Monitoring”; they have studied radiometric measurement instruments and spectra processing methods; techniques to determine radon concentration rates in various environments; chemical concentration of radionuclides from samples of food, forage, soil, and water to prepare specimens for measurements of radiation activity and gamma background by means of advanced hardware; techniques to detect areas of radioactive pollution. Special attention has been paid to practical workshops by applying the Multirad spectrometric system (Gamma Plus) with Progress software.
