Nowruz Celebration at ASU

A holiday event in honor of Nowruz, the Iranian New Year, has taken place at the Department of Foreign Languages of Astrakhan State University.

Mr. Sistani, Consul of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Astrakhan, has been the distinguished guest at the holiday.

The celebration of Nowruz has been the final event of the Week of Iranian Culture at ASU, during which our students could watch Iranian films, visit a thematic exhibition, or take part in Farsi language contests. It has been arranged jointly by Astrakhan State University and by Astrakhan Linguistic Gymnasium.

In his speech, the Iranian Consul has thanked our students for their diligence in mastering Farsi and congratulated them on their progress. “I was deeply touched to see your students recite poems by my nation’s favorite poets, sing Persian songs, and perform sketches in Farsi”, Mr. Sistani remarked. “I believe Astrakhan State University contributes significantly to the development of friendly relations between our countries by teaching its students Farsi”.
