Professor David Teply Celebrates 85th Birthday

On November 01, 2016, the celebration of the 85th birthday of Professor David Teply took place at Astrakhan State University.

David Lvovich Teply founded the Chair of Human & Animal Physiology & Morphology at ASU; he is a D.Sc. in Biology, a Full Professor, Chairperson of a united dissertation council, a Full Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, and an Honored University Lecturer of the Russian Federation.

Prof. Alexander Lunev, our Acting Rector, gave the first congratulating speech. He wished Prof. Teply good health and further professional progress; he expressed thanks to the merited researcher pointing out that the latter has been working at our University for half a century: “David Lvovich Teply is our brand. In any city, people remember Professor Teply every time they remember ASU. The research school he founded has trained numerous scientists, and this is the real brand of our merited scholar”.

Prof. Lunev’s speech was followed by speeches by our management and guests: Prof. Anna Fedotova (our Vice Rector for Research); Prof. Vladimir Pilipenko (Director of our Innovative Institute of Natural Sciences); Prof. Elena Kondratenko (Dean of our Biological Department); staff of the Chair of Physiology, Morphology, Genetics, & Biomedicine that Prof. Teply heads now; Prof. Lyudmila Kasyanova (Dean of our Department of Philology & Journalism, Chairperson of our Trade Union); reps of Astrakhan State Technical University and Astrakhan State Medical University.

Our students gave vocal and choreographic numbers; they also demonstrated a photo presentation of Professor Teply’s career and a documentary video presenting his family members, who told about him as both an outstanding scientist and an excellent husband, father, and grandfather.

A party and our staff’s informal congratulations followed the official celebration.
