South Korean Delegation Visits ASU
On October 28, 2016, a delegation of five diplomats from the Republic of Korea visited ASU.
The distinguished guests had a guided tour of ASU, including such facilities as our New Building with its cutting-edge labs and auditoriums of our Institute of Researches & Solutions to Technological Tasks, a swimming pool, a large modern canteen, a food production facility, etc. Our University management told our South Korean guests much about our material base and pointed out that our facilities are united into the single CDIO system (we joined the CDIO Initiative several years ago) to develop our students’ teamwork skills and leadership qualities. The delegation also visited our hotel facility, our preventive clinic for students, and our Clear Water restaurant.
The excursion was followed with an official meeting. According to Dr. Khurchak, our Vice Rector for International Relations, this visit of South Korean guests is a result of contacts between the Korean Culture and Information Service in Russia and our University. Since 2015, Astrakhan State University has been in close cooperation with Dongseo University in the field of education. In particular, we develop joint educational programs, online courses, research projects, etc.
In their turn, the distinguished guests thanked ASU for a warmhearted reception emphasizing excellent accommodation and educational conditions for our students, innovative approaches that our University applies in its educational process, and expressed their hopes to come to a mutually beneficial agreement related to students’ academic mobility. One of our students is invited to study in Korea (provided they have an excellent knowledge of English and do well at ASU) at the expense of the Government of South Korea.
In their turn, our management thanked the distinguished guests for their visit and supported all their proposals. Students from China and Japan study at ASU, and their Korean peers could join them, as our University has all the necessary conditions and facilities.
One of the main outcomes of the held negotiations may be launch of the program “Korean Language” at ASU.
