Students of ASU Win WorldSkills Russia Regional Championship

Students of the Department of Mathematics & Information Technologies and the Department of Physics & Technology of Astrakhan State University have won the First Regional Championship of Professional Skills, which has been held in accordance with the WorldSkills Russia standards.

The main goal of this championship is to promote the prestige of engineering professions and develop professional education by harmonizing the best practices and professional standards.

Over 100 students have taken part in the event. Ivan Maslikov and Alexander Churzin have taken the first places in the competencies “CAD Engineering Design” and “Web Design”, whereas Vlad Osokin and Leila Shayakhmetova have gained a bronze in the competencies “Welding Technologies” and “Software Solutions for Business”.

The winners of the regional championship shall represent Astrakhan Region in the Russian stage to take place in May 2017 in the city of Krasnodar. The international competition is to take place in October 2017 in Abu Dhabi (the United Arab Emirates).
