Student of ASU Demonstrates Profound Knowledge of Programming at International Level
Nikita Vassilyev, a third-year-student of Astrakhan State University, represented Astrakhan at the 11th International Competition IT Planet. After winning the selection tours of the competition, he could join its international final stage, which took place at Tyumen Industrial University on June 01-04.
This competition in the field of ICT aims to find and back gifted and skilled students and young specialists. Large national companies and enterprises are its partners; thus, participation in the battle of programmers helps not only check one’s knowledge, but also demonstrate one’s abilities to prestigious and renowned employers.
Besides, according to Nikita, this competition forms a new promising range of contacts. During this event, talented students have time to make friends and discuss projects they could carry out together. At the regional selection stages, Nikita took the 10th place in entire Russia and the 2nd one in Southern Russia, having yielded only to a student of Volgograd State University.
On the first day, June 01, the main competition block took place. Nikita was to demonstrate his skills of programming in C#. This language is widely spread in industrial R&D; many large IT companies use it. The nomination was supervised and sponsored by SKB Kontur, which is Russia’s largest developer of business web services.
On the second day of the contest, open educational events and presentations by the competition sponsors took place. On the third day, the finalists went on excursions: in particular, they visited Tobolsk, one of Russia’s most ancient and beautiful towns.
On the final day, June 04, there was the roundtable “IT Education: Challenges & Prospects”. Nikita became of the 10 winners and received a certificate of participation and an award from the competition prize fund. He remarked that reps of SKB Kontur got interested in him; they offered him interesting career opportunities.
