Chinese Students of ASU Recite Russian Classics

On June 06, when Russia celebrates the birthday of Alexander Pushkin, an event dedicated to his poetry took place in Astrakhan. Students from China recited Pushkin’s verses and poems that are dear to everyone; then they translated his poetry into Chinese.

Pushkin once wrote that entire Russia would remember him forever and ever, and his verses became a prophecy. Now we can definitely say that not just Russia, but also the whole world remembers him. Our students from China, who study at our Department of Philology & Journalism, have taken part in the 219th anniversary of the great Russian poet, “the poet of all times and peoples”.

It was indeed unusual and exciting to hear the famous verses recited by our foreign students. Poets, journalists, and students were admired to hear touching recitations of a Pushkin. The well-known verses were perceived in a different way, at another angle, with another melody. It seemed that our students who came from Hainan, Chengdu, and Dalian Universities were fully absorbed by Pushkin’s great and magnificent Russian language.
