Children Learn Mysteries of Space & Assemble Intelligent Mechanisms at ASU

Another summer shift has taken place at the Department of Physics & Technology of Astrakhan State University. Over two weeks, over 20 kids have been discovering the wonderful world of science and studying its main laws in practice.

Specialists of ASU offered a series of interesting lectures to their little guests. The kids learnt about the mysteries of space, about the mighty atmosphere, and about the properties of light. The teachers told them how energy is obtained, how an intruder alarm works, and what mysteries the microworld conceals.

At the master classes, the children made a planet model; they also assembled an origami, worked with an intelligent mechanism, and took macro photos with a smartphone. An electronic meccano by Andrey Bakhmetyev helped them learn how to assemble mechanisms. Its set of circuits and components helped them learn in practice how an idea turns into a working device.
