Graduate of ASU Shares Experience of Work with Oil & Gas Company
Another meeting between our present-day students and a successful graduate of our University has taken place. Our Sector of Russian-Asian Cooperation arranged it. It was Ayzhan Utegenova, an engineer of the Sakhalin Energy Company, who met our future biologists and chemists.
In the first half of the meeting, the guest told how her professional career began. Ayzhan left an ordinary village school; she wished she were an interpreter, but then she got interested in Chemistry. Her interest in languages helped her when she studied at Astrakhan State University, all whose students study a foreign language in addition to their main specialties. So she pointed out importance of learning languages for a good career. Ayzhan mastered English and French.
Since she was 18, Ayzhan took part in research and social projects. In 2013, she got her diploma and went to Moscow; she joined a master program at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. It was uneasy for her to study, but she kept on both getting new knowledge and participating in public activities.
Just an hour before receiving her master diploma, Ayzhan passed a job interview at the Rosneft Company via Skype. Right after her graduation, she went to work in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. Besides her professional knowledge, her socialization skills helped her as well. Now Ayzhan works an engineer at the Sakhalin Energy Company.
In the second half of her meeting with our students, Ayzhan told them about the oil-and-gas industry and shared secrets how a chemist or a biologist could join a practical training program at a prestigious company. She also told about special programs for young specialists. According to her, speaking foreign languages provides real prospects of an international career. Ayzhan recommended that students wishing to work in the oil-and-gas sphere developed their general knowledge and communication skills, that they used all the socialization opportunities that ASU provides them with.
