ASU Researchers and Their Kyrgyz Colleagues Will Compare the Caspian Sea with Issyk-Kul Lake

Anna Fedotova, ASU Vice Rector for Research Activities, represented our university at the meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz Consortium of Technical Universities. ASU has actively joined the network cooperation and proposed its research projects.

Astrakhan State University joined the consortium in 2012. The union of technical universities accounts for 24 Russian and 8 Kyrgyz higher educational institutions. It focuses on network cooperation in training students of engineering and technical majors. The consortium gives BA and MA students an opportunity to receive a double-degree diploma. Astrakhan State University has now prepared draft agreements with all 8 Kyrgyz universities and is planning to sign them in the near future.

«These agreements will mainly cover network cooperation in preparing and implementing large-scale research projects,» Anna Fedotova says, «We also count on support of Rossotrudichestvo that actually guided the foundation and functioning of the consortium.»

This year, Astrakhan State University has proposed research activities as a form of partnership. It is planned to implement a project on comparing the Caspian Sea and Issyk-Kul Lake, as, according to the available data, they are «successors» of the same ancient ocean. ASU will implement the project together with the Kyrgyz State Technical University after I. Razzakov and the P.P.Shirshov Institute of Oceanology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
