Astrakhan State University Will Become One of the Venues for Christmas Readings
The regional phase of the 27th International Christmas Readings has been started in Astrakhan. This year, they are dedicated to the topic "Youth: Freedom and Responsibility". The plenary session was attended, among others, by Konstantin Markelov, the ASU Acting Rector. The university will also host several events of the Readings programme.
On December 11, the Astrakhan State Philharmonic Hall welcomed its guests — those who really care about the young generation destiny and the future of Russia. The discussion of a complex topic of educating young people in line with constructive values involved public officials, teachers and representatives of the main confessions of Russia. It is remarkable that there were a lot of students and pupils — those who are directly connected with the topic under consideration.
It should be recalled that the Christmas Educational Readings are a church and social forum in the field of education, culture, social service and spiritual and moral education, held in collaboration with the regional authorities and the Astrakhan Eparchy.
The most solemn part of the event was the awarding of young participants of creative competitions and their teachers. The winners of the regional phase of the international competition "Beauty of God’s World" and the municipal round of the all-Russia school competition "Fundamentals of the Orthodox Culture" were awarded by Metropolitan Nikon and Konstantin Markelov.
The participants kicked start to the first phase of the Readings, and there are different activities within sessions and other educational events for ASU students ahead.
