ASU Holds a Discussion on Combating Human Trafficking

Astrakhan State University held the International Academic & Research Conference «Human Rights and Freedoms: Issues of Ensuring and Protection at International and National Levels» with face-to-face and virtual participation, confined to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and 25th anniversary of the RF Constitution.

The scientific event was organized by teachers of the ASU Law Faculty and was financially supported by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research within the framework of the grant project implementation.

The plenary session was attended by representatives of ASU, the regional Ministry of International and Foreign Economic Relations of the Astrakhan Region, the Representative Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Astrakhan, experts of the Migration Research Centre (Moscow), heads of the Astrakhan Regional Office of the Russian Red Cross and the Office of the Human Rights Commissioner in Astrakhan region, who addressed the participants with their welcome speeches. The organizers also held a teleconference with Inna Lemeshevskaya, the Head of the Belarus Red Cross.

The conference covered three main areas: issues of protection of human rights and freedoms in the humanitarian dimension, rights of the «forth generation», as well as transformation of concepts and practices in the system of fundamental human rights and freedoms. The speakers’ reports were followed by active discussion, which allowed to reveal new aspects in studying human rights and freedoms.

The conference international level allowed not only to state problems in the legal framework of human rights and freedoms, but also to make comparison and study the experience of other countries in this area. The conference will result in publication of its proceedings.
