ASU Continues Cooperation with the Italian University
Konstantin Markelov visited Ca’Foscari University of Venice, where he presented the academic potential of Astrakhan State University, held a number of meetings and discussed further plans with our foreign colleagues.
It should be recalled that cooperation with one of the well-known Italian universities started in 2005 when a respective agreement was signed. Since 2007, the partners have been implementing student and staff mobility programmes and major grants on a regular basis. In 2008, the universities signed an agreement on Ph.D. studies in addition to the main agreement, and in 2015 they signed another document which extended the area of cooperation.
Being at Ca’Foscari University of Venice, the ASU Rector delivered a speech and dwelled on the university potential in extending international cooperation and implementing new projects. Prof. Markelov stressed the key positions of Astrakhan Region in the Russian part of the Caspian Sea region. Academic institutions play an important role in the strategy of its development, and nowadays Astrakhan State University both carries out its traditional educational and research activities quite successfully and is actively involved in the regional development. The Rector told our Italian colleagues about major projects, implemented in Astrakhan State University — Transport & Logistics Consortium of Caspian Higher Educational Institutions, Scientific & Educational Centre “Caspian Region” and Caspian Scientific Youth Project Office.
Astrakhan State University attaches particular importance to long-term common projects with its Italian partners.
The Rector put forward a number of promising proposals, including joint research activities, implementation of the projects “Higher School of Engineering”, International Academy of Theatre, “Cinema and Television" and many other possible interactions.
