Regional Antimonopoly Service Activities Are Summed Up at ASU

On March 22, Astrakhan State University hosted a public discussion of the law enforcement practice results of the Astrakhan Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia in the sphere of control over antimonopoly and public procurement legislations in the region over the first quarter of 2019.

The reporting event was attended by students and teachers of the ASU Law Faculty. Nikolay Merkulov, the Office Director, was the main speaker of the event. He recalled that on December 21, 2017 the RF Presidential Decree No.618 had approved the National Plan for Development of Competitiveness in the Russian Federation for 2018-2020. The speaker told the audience about the practice of detection and suppression of violation of laws on the protection of competition at the housing and utilities services market. Besides, the speaker noted that the regional trade keeps being highly-competitive: there are both large federal markets, food markets, local shops and fairs, functioning in the region.

Nikolay Merkulov also dwelled on some cases, examined by the Astrakhan Office of the FAC of Russia, on abuse of market power by economic entities in the sphere of energy supplies.

In follow-up of the event, the participants filled in questionnaires, asking some questions they are interested in. Now the office employees are analyzing the results, and the answers will be posted on the website of the Astrakhan Office of the Federal Antimonopoly Service of Russia.
