Konstantin Markelov Participates in a Meeting of HEI Rectors from All over the Country

Konstantin Markelov, the Acting Rector of Astrakhan State University has participated in a meeting of the Russian Rectors’ Union. This event, which is very important for the Russia’s academic community, took place on March 25 at Lomonosov Moscow State University.

That day also saw the international forum «Universities, Society and the Future of Mankind». Along with the Rectors’ meeting, the forum programme included the meeting of the Eurasian Universities Association, as well as the signing of several important memorandums on establishing academic consortiums within the programme «Vernadsky». It implies creation of regional scientific and industrial clusters, focused on development of scientific schools, applied research, design and implementation of comprehensive programmes of mineral resource development and socioeconomic growth of territories.

An important issue in the agenda of the meeting of the Russian Rectors’ Union was re-election of its President and Council; as a result of the vote, the Union is headed by MSU Rector Victor Sadovnichy again.
