ASU Is Fully Open to Regional Vocational Education Initiatives
Representatives of local self-governing educational authorities, headed by Astrakhan Acting Minister of Education and Science Vitaly Gutman, discussed with the ASU administration and teachers possible joint activities on training in-demand specialists for the region.
The event was held in several stages. Firstly, the guests visited laboratories and buildings of Astrakhan State University and saw how the university implements its educational programmes, how its students practice sports, learn to design robots, translate from 15 languages, use multimedia technologies and work in the sphere of logistics.
Then all the participants gathered at the ASU Territory of Writing & Thinking and held a round-table discussion on a number of urgent issues. The meeting was attended by deans and employees of all faculties of Astrakhan State University.
Vitaly Gutman started with his acknowledgements to the ASU administration that actually initiated this meeting. He stressed that the university is ready for cooperation in many areas and is already cooperating with some schools of the region. This meeting will allow to hold a face-to-face discussion on developing a strategy for further work, identify staff and educational needs of schools and assess ASU capacities and potential in this sphere.
Konstantin Markelov, the ASU Acting Rector, confirmed and specified some points of strategic partnership.
“Today our university trains a great number of students, including teachers-to-be. The institutions that are ready to hire our graduates must tell us what entities our graduates go to, how many of them will be employed and what majors are in-demand. That is why this dialogue is necessary. I think that this first meeting is introductory, and there is general fruitful work ahead,” stressed the Rector.
