ASU Psychologists-To-Be Presented ASU with Dignity at a Competition in Kazan
A student team from the Faculty of Psychology of Astrakhan State University participated for the first time in the Kazan Battle-School of Conflict Resolution which was held in April 2019 at Kazan (Volga region) Federal University.
The 6th Kazan Battle-School of Conflict Resolution consisted in three stages. The theoretical stage implied a test on the history and theory of conflict resolution. The second stage included case-study tasks on conflict management. The ASU team ranked second upon the results of the two stages, outdone only by the student team from St Petersburg University. The third stage of the competition comprised the modelling of a real-life mediating process. Upon the results of all the stages, our team ranked 7th out of 14 teams from other universities and received a respective certificate.
The students also attended a lecture-discussion “Modern Situation and Conflict Resolution in Russian Digital Economy” by Aleksandr Karpenko, the Director of the SPBU Centre for Negotiation & Peaceful Strategy Development, and a master class “Conflict Factors and Their Role in Mediating Process” by Oleg Mavrin, the Head of the Volga Mediators’ League.
The students gained invaluable experience of communication with leading mediators of the Volga region, acquired experience of participation in mediating processes, made good friends among conflict resolution students and laid the groundwork for further cooperation with the Department of Conflict Resolution of Kazan (Volga region) Federal University. Upon their arrival in Astrakhan, the participants shared their experience with students of the Faculty of Psychology and hope to win the competition in future.
