ASU on ISLAND 10-22: Konstantin Markelov Participates in a Meeting with RF Minister of Science and Higher Education

The Island organizers thoroughly thought through the list of experts that would visit the educational workshop and give a visionary lecture, master class or hold public discussion on certain educational issues. One of such speakers was RF Minister of Science and Higher Education Mikhail Kotyukov.

On July 20, the Minister attended the tracks of developing scientific and educational centres, universities of the future and development of the regional ecosystem, participated in public discussion and answered the question of representatives of the universities’ teams and the discussion moderator Evgeny Szhenov, an expert of the Institute of Education of HSE. The participants discussed some issues of further development of the Island format, training of university’s staff, rectors-mentors, scientific and educational centres and further vocational education.

Mikhail Kotyukov commended the level of the Island 10-22 educational workshop. The Minister supported the idea, proposed by rectors of many universities of Russia, on all-year activities of the workshop to make the projects and development more efficient.

The public discussion covered the issues of the Ministry attitude toward interuniversity cooperation, measures that must be taken to attract not only recent school leavers but also adults to enter university, facilitation of university control and monitoring activities.

According to ASU Acting Rector Konstantin Markelov, the meeting was quite productive and interesting. Along with his colleagues, the Rector shared his opinion on certain issues and proposed some ideas on the university projects.
