ASU Representatives Discuss Preparations for Establishment of Caspian SEC in Elista

A business meeting between the delegation of Astrakhan State University, headed by Vice-Rector for Research Activities Anna Fedotova, and scientists of the Kalmyk State University took place on March 2, 2020.

The colleagues discussed the issues of enhanced scientific cooperation within the preparation of the application to establish the Caspian SEC and the competition of the Russian Scientific Foundation.

In particular, Anna Fedotova and Head of the Caspian SEC Project Office Oksana Mineva told the representatives of the Kalmyk State University about the main anchor projects, forming a basis of the application for establishment of the centre.

One of such projects was presented to Elista colleagues by Anna Romanova, the Director of the ASU Institute of Southern Russia & Northern Caspian Region Issues Research, who dwelled on multitasking in the issue of societal security of the Caspian macroregion. This project was not only supported by humanities scholars of the Kalmyk State University but also significantly extended with the aspect of economic security, proposed by Prof. Natalia Kurepina from the Kalmyk State University.

The parties agreed to develop the anchor project on societal security of the Caspian macroregion and form a pool of sub-projects before the end of March 2020.
