Astrakhan State University Strengthens Ties with Rural Schools
On September 11, ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov, Vice Rector for Academic Activities Aleksandr Treshchev and Head of the Directorate for Pre-University Training & Students Admission Lyudmila Tovarnichenko met with schoolteachers of the Kamyzyak district. This is the first trip of the university’s staff in the series of their visits to the regional municipal entities.
The colleagues discussed cooperation within the 2021 Admission Campaign; the ASU representatives told the teachers about the most promising majors of the university in the upcoming year. Rector Konstantin Markelov affirmed that Astrakhan State University is ready to provide any kind of support to school leavers in their preparation for matriculation.
Konstantin Markelov told the teachers about the ASU projects for teachers and invited to participate in them. The university gives classes on preparation to the final state examination, runs the House of Scientific Collaboration, where teenagers learn the basics of robotic engineering, industrial design and aerodynamics, and the Teacher of the Future Centre, where teachers themselves can upgrade their qualification on a regular basis. The rector also put forward an idea to organize excursions for schoolchildren across the university so that they can learn more about the university’s potential.
Besides, Konstantin Markelov spoke about joint programmes with partner universities.
Such meetings with the teaching staff of rural schools of Astrakhan region will be continued. In the near future, the ASU administration is going to visit the Akhtubinsky, Volodarsky, Ikryaninsky and Narimanovsky districts.
