ASU Journalism Students Are Invited Again to Opening Night at Opera & Ballet Theatre
Journalism students of Astrakhan State University have taken an active part in a press conference, dedicated to the first showing of opera “Carmen”, and then watched the performance as part of their activities at the Theatre Media Criticism School (headed by Galina Belolipskaya).
The theatre started preparing for the performance as early as in March, but the opening night was postponed several times because of the pandemic. That is why, as Art Director and Chief Conductor of the Astrakhan Theatre of Opera and Ballet Valery Voronin says, the first showing of Carmen is really long-awaited. It took place on September, 11 and 12.
ASU journalism students actively study tendencies of the performing arts and their connection with modern culture within various subjects like “Media Criticism”, “Journalism in Cultural Communications”, “Journalism as a Sociocultural Phenomenon”. Such connection with theatrical practices extends the professional competence of future experts in mass media and shapes their taste.
Spokeswoman of the Theatre of Opera and Ballet Lyudmila Rolina noted that it is important for them to keep implementing this educational project, aimed at potential upbringing of a generation of theatre media critics, with ASU. She also thanked the students for their interest in the performance.
