ASU Will Help Rural Schoolchildren Learn about Their Region’s Nature

Attendees of the Teenagers’ Labour & Recreation Camp in the Narimanovsky District will learn the fundamentals of natural science, supported by students and leading professors of Astrakhan State University. The first group will arrive as early as on autumn holidays.

An agreement on cooperation was reached during yesterday’s visit of university’s representatives to the Narimanov Secondary Comprehensive School. The ASU delegation included Rector Konstantin Markelov, Vice Rector for Academic Activities Aleksandr Treshchev, Head of the Directorate for Pre-University Training & Students Admission Lyudmila Tovarnichenko and Dean of the Biological Faculty Elena Kondratenko.

The meeting participants elaborated a strategy of educational cooperation between the Narimanovsky District of Astrakhan region and Astrakhan State University.

For example, the ASU Biological Faculty offered their help in organizing a school of natural scientists (zoologists, botanists). Its participants will learn about the nature of their region in the field. Besides, the participants agreed to launch intensive courses on various scientific areas.

The visitors also discussed the issues of theoretical preparation of the district schoolchildren for the final state examinations in the 9th and 11th grades and their involvement into joint project activities as one of the areas for cooperation. Young citizens of the Narimanovsky district are invited to attend classes at the House of Scientific Collaboration named after V.K. Trediakovsky, while students of the university, in their turn, will undertake traineeships at the district schools.
