Astrakhan State University Supports Orphan Children Who Wish to Get Higher Education

Today, panel discussion “Analysis of Existing Mechanisms of State Support of Orphan Children and Children without Parental Care in Modern Russia” has been held within the regional seminar-meeting. The event brought together orphanage leavers, social care teachers, heads of social organizations, representatives of the authorities and volunteering organizations of the Southern and North Caucasus federal districts.

Participants and guests of the meeting were welcomed by Deputy Minister of Social Development and Labour of Astrakhan region Yulia Temendarova. The programme included speeches by ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov, Acting Chief of the Directorate of Family Policy and Orphan Children’s Rights Protection of the regional Ministry of Social Development and Labour Natalia Morozova, Chair of the all-Russia social organization “Orphanage Leavers’ Community” and member of the Advisory Council for Orphan Children Support Issues Albert Sarbalaev, Director of the Astrakhan State Polytechnic College Oksana Zhigulskaya and Deputy Head of the Astrakhan Youth Agency Viktor Nurtazin.

Once the panel discussion was over, participating children could ask their questions on the issues of concern and receive straight competent answers from the experts.
