Andrey Bakhmetiev Commends Projects of Young Robotic Engineers of ASU
The Russian inventor, TV host and the main developer of Znatok Plus company already visited our university in 2018 at the invitation of Rector Konstantin Markelov. This time, ASU scientists showed the host of “Do It Yourself” TV programme their new projects and spoke about their achievements and promising ideas.
The expert commended the equipment installed in the ASU laboratories and noted that the university implements a proper approach to education and science.
The young scientists showed the guest a group of closely related projects — a submersible remotely controlled explorer, including for environmental monitoring in aqueous media, SMELCOM ROV and a mobile milling platform MIPPO Ver.1, equipped with an ultrasonic navigation system. The students also presented a brand-new project — an automated system for detection of serially-produced article defects.
Andrey Bakhmetiev got acquainted with the technological potential of the university with great interest and asked the students about the problems they face in their work and things that challenge implementation of their projects. The guest also wanted to know if these projects can be implemented in practice and if the developers work closely with customers.
The students told the guest that now they are developing partnership with the Russian Railways — they elaborate a joint plan of using SMELCOM ROV submersible remotely controlled robotic system to explore the underwater part of the railway bridge. Besides, the ASU engineers already cooperate with Lotus shipbuilding yard and the Astrakhan office of LUKOIL in this project and conduct joint research.
