Konstantin Markelov Sums Up ASU Results of 2020

The rector of Astrakhan State University spoke about the main areas of the university’s activities and outlined plans at the first meeting of the Academic Council in 2021.

The year of 2020 brought serious challenges to ASU, like to the whole world, but the same challenges also determined new prospects in all spheres of activities.

Last year, ASU held final exams and graduation theses defense online for the first time ever. For this purpose, the Admissions Office developed and launched the personal account service.

The university keeps developing additional education — more than 200 courses were developed and implemented in 2020. The ability to teach foreign languages is a doubtless competitive advantage of ASU in this sphere.

In his report, the rector also spoke about the 2020 results in such activities as the university’s participation in the federal project within the functioning of the Centre for Modern Competence Development in Children “House of Scientific Collaboration named after V.K. Trediakovsky”, support of projects “Engineering Education” and “Startup as Graduation Project”, interuniversity cooperation in the Caspian region, preparation of the application to participate in the Strategic Academic Leadership Programme, etc.

Speaking about plans for 2021, Konstantin Markelov mentioned, first of all, preparation for the upcoming state accreditation of the university and a series of large international events — scientific forum “Caspian Region 2021: Ways of Sustainable Development” (to be held in May 2021), another meeting of the Commission for Science, Research and Technology under the Association of State Universities of Caspian Region Countries and the Caspian Youth Startup Festival (planned for October 2021).
