Astrakhan State University Discusses Prospects of Engineering Education for Schoolchildren

On January 27, the updated location of the ASU Boiling Point Centre hosted a meeting on the issue of opening engineering classrooms in Astrakhan schools under support of the United Shipbuilding Corporation.

The event involved ASU Vice Rector for Innovations and Priority Projects Aleksey Titov, Director of the Caspian Higher Engineering School Svetlana Panarina, Head of the HR Training, Development and Assessment of the Southern Shipbuilding & Shiprepairing Centre Natalia Pshenichnova, representatives of the regional Ministry of Science & Education, school headmasters and so on.

Participants of the meeting considered the concept of shipbuilding engineering classrooms, discussed creation of a working group for their functioning, development of a roadmap for interaction between the project implementers and, above all, selection of schools that will become pilot participants of the project.

The concept of specialized engineering classrooms of the United Shipbuilding Corporation is aimed at ensuring high-quality polytechnic (physics, computer science, maths) and preprofessional training, early-stage involvement of schoolchildren into the professional industrial environment, improvement of the profile of industrial vocational professions and engineering majors, finding and support of talented children, creation of a teaching and didactic framework, etc.
