Konstantin Markelov Speaks about Prospects for Development of Youth Science in the Region

The ASU rector made a speech at the plenary session of the 10th International Scientific Forum of Young Scientists, Innovators, Students and Schoolchildren «Potential of Intellectually Gifted Youth — Development of Science and Education», opened at Astrakhan State Architecture & Civil Engineering University.

Konstantin Markelov addressed the participants of the large-scale scientific event as the chair of the Consortium of Educational Institutions of Higher Education & Scientific Organizations of Astrakhan Region and as the rector of Astrakhan State University. He noted that today, providing young scientists with support is one of the main tasks of both Russia in general and Astrakhan region; therefore, it is necessary to unite researchers from Astrakhan universities for joint work, including on projects aimed specifically at the regional economy.

“Astrakhan is interested in our intellectual youth staying here, and their developments being implemented directly in our region. The possibility of creating a good scientific experimental base in the region is being actively discussed. In the near future, our joint project with Astrakhan State Architecture & Civil Engineering University on creating an interuniversity scientific and educational complex will be shown within the presentation of Astrakhan region in the Federation Council,” said Konstantin Markelov.

According to the rector, if the project is supported at the federal level, young people will have the opportunity to conduct scientific research in modern facilities, study and work for the benefit of the regional development and implement advanced scientific and technological projects.

In addition, he noted the importance of discussing the most relevant issues of infrastructure development and introduction of new technologies at the opened forum, since this will become an important groundwork for the support and development of science and young scientists.
