Military Training Center May Be Established at Astrakhan State University
ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov has taken part in the all-Russia scientific and applied conference “Military Training of Students: New Opportunities & Prospects”, held by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation in the Patriot Park.
Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu addressed the audience with an introductory speech, and Minister of Science and Higher Education Valery Falkov was one of the first speakers. At the conference, chiefs of higher educational institutions presented reports on various aspects of military training of students.
In their speeches, Sergey Shoigu and Valery Falkov noted that training centers would be created in the regions that still have none of them but do have all preconditions for their opening. These include Astrakhan region, too.
Astrakhan State University has applied for the creation of a military training center (MTC). The document is still under consideration and has already been evaluated positively at the preliminary stage of the assessment.
It is planned that the main activity of the ASU MTC will be training, including creation of cadet classes and a training and methodological center for military and patriotic education of young people of Astrakhan region called “Vanguard”.
