Astrakhan State University Hosts First Meeting of Alumni Club Council
ASU alumni, who are now successful professionals in various fields and care about the future of the university, have gathered today in the conference hall of the university. Representatives of each faculty became members of the council.
The event participants learnt about the activities of the club, its goals, objectives and structure, and about the advantages for the members of the organization and their families.
Welcoming the audience, ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov noted that the university cannot function without close ties with its alumni who work in various parts of the region, country and the world.
He also emphasized the importance of today’s students knowing the university’s graduates, history, success and achievements. The head of the university drew the attention of the audience to the need for “returning” successful graduates to the university, involving them in addressing the problems of the university, encouraging them to look for ways to improve it and provide all possible assistance.
At the end of his speech, the rector proposed to create an environment for communication of alumni in order to expand the range of its participants.
At the meeting, Ivan Shtrigel, a 2011 graduate of the Faculty of Mathematics & Information Technology with a degree in information systems, who is now a project manager of the Production Systems Development Programme at Rosatom State Corporation, was unanimously elected president of the club. Irina Kalmykova, senior specialist of the Directorate for Extracurricular Activities & Student Initiatives Development, was elected vice-president.
