Ecology Students of ASU Undertake Educational Field Practice in Khvalynsky National Park
Second-year students of the Faculty of Geology & Geography of Astrakhan State University have visited Saratov Region as part of their internship for acquiring primary professional skills in ecology.
In the first days of their practice, the students collected samples for herbarium near the Solnechnaya Polyana tourist complex and climbed Mount Kalancha, which is the eastern terminus of the Kalanchevsky ridge.
During the fieldwork, the students of the ASU Faculty of Geology & Geography carried out geobotanical studies of the areas of association of meadow and forest phytocenoses using the methods they studied in the framework of subjects “Flora Protection” and “World Geography of Florogenesis”.
On one of the days of their practice, the students visited the Khvalynsk Local Lore Museum. At the lecture, they got acquainted with ornithological information and the geological history of the town, studied the collection of shells and mollusks that used to inhabit this area.
