ASU Rector Konstantin Markelov Gets Vaccinated Against COVID-19

Head of Astrakhan State University Konstantin Markelov has been vaccinated against COVID-19 with the CoviVac vaccine.

A year ago, the rector of the university was down with COVID-19.

“I’ve had a high level of antibodies up to the present time. However, a week ago, a follow-up blood test showed that my antibodies were not enough, and today I was injected the first dosage of the vaccine. I see no other options for myself — as the head of a large educational institution, as a professor, as a responsible citizen. Vaccination is a simple, effective and free way in our country to protect not only oneself, but also one’s loved ones from the serious disease,” said Rector Konstantin Markelov.

A vaccination center for the university staff and students is open once a week in Astrakhan State University. Anyone interested who has no medical contraindications can be vaccinated against COVID-19.

“I strongly recommend that students, university staff and all sane citizens do the same. Moreover, it is better to hurry up so that immunity can be formed before the beginning of ARVI seasonal activity and, in the case of students, before the end of the summer holidays,” said the ASU rector.
